The Medical Student Section of the American Medical Association adopted a resolution that supports state legislation to provide universal health care, including single-payer legislation.

A 2014 survey of Maine Medical Association members showed an increase in the percentage of members supporting a single-payer approach to health system reform — to 64.3 percent, up from 52.3 percent in 2008.
