Supreme Court Single Payer and 99 to 1
May 14, 2012
Some things we don’t.
We know Obama’s health law mandate robs from the poor and gives to the rich.
It forces all citizens to give money to giant health insurance corporations.
It keeps the insurance companies in the game.
When in fact, they should be forced out.
Another thing we know is that single payer is the answer.
It controls costs, it saves billions of dollars, and tens of thousands of lives a year.
That’s why Single Payer Action organized 50 medical doctors to resist Obama’s mandate – and filed an amicus brief calling on the Supreme Court to strike it down.
Pointing out that Congress had another way — single payer.
On the day the Supreme Court was hearing the issue, we were in front of the Supreme Court with a banner that read:
Strike Down Obama’s Mandate — Single Payer Now.
We don’t know how the Supreme Court will rule in late June.
But we do know that we have done what others have refused to do — we stood up to both corporate parties.
And challenged Obama’s mandate — when others were gagged by their fear of hurting Obama in an election year.
We also don’t know how we are going to get to single payer.
But we do know that we won’t get there by embracing a law written by the insurance industry.
For a donation of $100 or more to Single Payer Action, we’ll send you a hard copy of the historic amicus brief — written by Single Payer Action’s attorney Oliver Hall and signed onto by the fifty doctors.
We will also send you the just released and soon to be classic — 99 to 1: How Wealth Inequality is Wrecking the World and What We Can Do About It — autographed by the author Chuck Collins – the expert on wealth inequality in the USA.
Together — the amicus brief and the book — will give you a deeper understanding of the upcoming Supreme Court decision.
And how the top 1 percent continues to steal from the bottom 99.
It’s part of our ongoing effort to find new ways to break through the unified corporate wall of opposition to single payer.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Onward to single payer.
