Capito’s Deceptive Medicare Flyer

July 3, 2011

Now we know why Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (R-West Virginia) is afraid of a strong consumer protection agency.

Because she’s actively engaged in misleading consumers.

Namely — her own constituents.

Just got back from the mailbox.

And in the mail was a slick flyer from Capito titled “A Resource for West Virginia Seniors.”

In it, Capito claims that she is “protecting Medicare for future generations.”

If that’s true, then why did she vote for a bill that the Wall Street Journal said would end Medicare?

Either the Wall Street Journal is wrong.

Or Capito is wrong.

They can’t both be right.

Maybe Capito is feeling the heat from our project to get Capito to resign.

Because she voted to end Medicare.

Check out capitoresign.org.

We’re taking out radio ads around the Second Congressional district making this exact point.

And we’re planning a billboard campaign.

Given that the country is facing a pretty severe deficit, should Capito be spending our tax money on flyers aimed to deceive her own constituents?

And if she feels so strongly that she’s working to “protect Medicare,” then why won’t she agree to debate the issue?

Right here in West Virginia?

We’re not talking some left wing rag making the claim that the bill Capito voted for would end Medicare.

We’re talking the beacon of capitalism — the Wall Street Journal.

Capito voted to end Medicare.

So, Shelley — let’s have a debate.

Right here in West Virginia.

Was your vote a vote to protect Medicare?

Or to end Medicare?
