Capito’s Contempt for the Commonwealth

August 12, 2011

Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito has nothing but contempt for the commonwealth.

Commonwealth – as in – wealth held in common.

As we know, Capito voted in April for legislation that the Wall Street Journal said would end Medicare.

Medicare is a commonwealth – wealth held in common for those 65 and older.

The health care insurance system should be held in common for everyone – from cradle to grave.

But not according to the likes of Capito – who would strip the nation of our commonwealth.

There are many examples of commonwealth.

And the likes of Capito have nothing but contempt for all forms of commonwealth.

This week, the Capito Resign campaign traveled to Pendleton County, West Virginia and ran up to the observation deck at Seneca Rocks.

“As I peered into the valley below with a capitoresign.org t-shirt on my back, I thought of Capito’s contempt for our commonwealth and how it bankrupts our country,” said Russell Mokhiber, who is running ten miles in each of the 18 counties in Capito’s district. So far, he has run in five counties promoting the Capito Resign campaign.

Seneca Rocks is part of our national commonwealth – held in common by the U.S. Forest Service.

There are some who would sell off our commonwealth.

Capito voted to do it to Medicare.

Others – like the TV personality John Stossel – would sell off our national forests and national parks to private corporations.

Just strip the commonwealth.

Capito voted to end Medicare – and then she told her constituents that she was working to “protect” and “strengthen” it.

“In fact, she has nothing but contempt for our commonwealth,” Mokhiber said. “Sign the petition at capitoresign.org.”
