No Choice in West Virginia
September 21, 2010
Here in West Virginia, if the polls are right, we are about to elect a Tea Bagging Senator.
To replace the late Senator Robert Byrd.
We have three choices.
John Raese — the Republican corporate Tea Bagger who is ahead in the most recent polls.
Joe Manchin — a corporate Democratic Governor who is the pocket of the coal industry and who favors mountaintop removal.
Jesse Johnson — a third party candidate with the Mountain Party.
A party that in 2004 and 2008 choose to deny Ralph Nader a ballot line so as not to threaten the Democrats.
Get it?
So, what are we to do?
Start from scratch.
If we care about single payer.
If we care about getting out of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
If we care about the mountains of West Virginia.
Then we must start from scratch.
Without allegiance to any party.
It’s a new day in America.
No to corporate power.
No to the Democrats and Republicans.
No to the Tea Baggers.
No to Democratic and Republican front groups — in all their forms.
