Richard Kirsch, Raul Grijalva and Single Payer

March 2, 2010

Congressman Raul Grijalva (D-Arizona) is a co-chair of the so called Progressive Caucus.

He says he’s for a single payer health care reform.

But like 80 or so of his fellow members of the so-called Progressive Caucus — he won’t fight for it.

Instead, Grijalva and the so-called progressive Democrats will take whatever they get.

In December in Tucson, we asked Grijalva why he won’t fight for single payer.

“We need a W,” Grijalva answered.

As in — we’ll take whatever we can get.

No single payer?

No problem.

No public option?

No problem.

Bailout the insurance industry?

No problem.

The American people continue to suffer?

No problem.

The WTWWCGC (we’ll take whatever we can get coalition) is made up of the likes of Grijalva and the so-called Progressive Caucus, Howard Dean, and Richard Kirsch of Health Care for America Now.

Most damaging is Kirsh’s HCAN — which just announced a publicity stunt for March 9.

Kirsch and his fellow corporate Dems will be protesting outside the annual meeting of the health insurers calling for the “mass arrest of the insurance companies.”

Earth to Richard — you arrest individuals — not corporations.

“Tell Congress to listen to us, not to insurance companies” HCAN blasts on its website.

And who exactly is “us” Richard?

The “us” Kirsch is referring to just happens to be the corporate Democrats.

No, Congress.

Don’t listen to Richard Kirsh, HCAN and the corporate Democrats.

They support the bill that Obama is currently planning on ramming through Congress.

A bill that Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) justly points out is just another bailout for the insurance industry.

Listen instead to Kucinich.

Vote against Obamacare.

And start over.

Or as none other than the esteemed Bruce Bartlett put it last week — let’s have a full out debate on single payer.

Yes, Congress, listen to “us.”

Not to Richard Kirsch, Howard Dean and HCAN.

“Us” wants single payer.

“Us” doesn’t want to arrest insurance companies.

“Us” wants to defeat the bailout of the insurance companies that is Obamacare.

“Us” wants to put the insurance companies out of business.

“Us” wants everyone in one public insurance pool.

“Us” wants to put an end the insanity that is our current health care system.

“Us” wants to put a stop to publicity stunts by corporate Democrats.

And give some relief to the American people.
