Single Payer Action Confronts Posey
July 1, 2009
Tyneski Quintel would not take no for an answer.
Yesterday, Quintel directly confronted Congressman Bill Posey (R-Florida).
She wanted to know why Posey doesn’t support single payer national health insurance.
Posey was addressing a group of citizens in his district in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
“I want an answer,” Quintel demanded. “Why don’t you support single payer health care?”
Posey refused to answer.
After all, the forum was supposed to be about hurricane relief — not single payer health insurance.
But Quintel persisted.
“Put single payer health care on the table,” Quintel told Posey.
“Sixty Americans die every day because they don’t have health insurance.”
“How can you have insurance and we can’t?” Quintel asked Posey.
Posey’s handlers tried to shut down Quintel, but when she persisted in demanding an answer about single payer from Posey, she was removed from the room.
“Go away,” someone shouted at Quintel.
“Go to Russia,” another said.
“Do you want to talk with the Congressman one on one?” a Posey staffer asked.
