Single Payer Action Confronts Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen

June 30, 2009

Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Florida) was in Coral Gables, Florida Sunday afternoon.

She was in her district to lead a discussion about the “Iranian threat to Israel.”

But Single Payer Action wanted to know about the health insurance industry’s threat to the American people.

So, during the Congresswoman’s presentation, Austin Case stood up and asked Ros-Lehtinen:

“Congresswoman, why won’t you support single payer health care for everyone?”

Ros-Lehtinen ignored the question and just carried on as if Case was not in the room.

The crowd tried to drown out Case.

But Case persisted.

“Sixty Americans die every day from lack of health insurance,” Case said.

“Why won’t you give the American people your attention on this issue?”

“Why am I being kicked out of the room?”
