Adam Schneider: People Asking About Single Payer
June 29, 2009
Ever since he was arrested last month before the Senate Finance Committee for asking that single payer be put on the table, friends and family of Adam Schneider have been calling and asking – what’s single payer?
“I’ve gotten more phone calls and e-mails from friends of my parents who saw the YouTube video and wanted to know what this was all about,” Schneider told Single Payer Action last week.
“More people are asking questions. More people are asking – why are you standing up for this, what is this that you’re standing up for? And that provides the opportunity to talk about how we can move to one plan for one nation.”
Schneider works at Health Care for the Homeless in Baltimore, Maryland.
“Every day when I go into work I see people who don’t have health insurance and can’t get the care that they need or have extreme difficulties getting the care they need. It’s outrageous.”
“It’s outrageous in the wealthiest state in the wealthiest country in hiostory — that people can’t get the health care that they need,” Schneider says.
